Environmental Commitment
Landmark recognizes the need to undertake operations and activities in a manner that reflects sustainable environmental practices. We are aware of the environmental impacts of our operations and aim to carry out business in a way that protects the local and global environment.
The purpose of this Environmental Policy is to earn the confidence of employees, shareholders, customers and the general public by demonstrating our commitment to comply with relevant environmental legislation and minimize pollution, resource use and waste where feasible.
Landmark is committed to identifying activities that have the potential to cause environmental impact and providing adequate resources to help minimize or prevent negative impact.
How We Put the Policy Into Practice
- Identify environmental impacts that operations and activities contribute to, and establish environmental management procedures that can be incorporated into business decisions in a cost-effective manner.
- Instill mechanisms and benchmarks to measure and evaluate environmental performance and provide direction on where improvements are necessary.
- Promote a corporate culture of personal environmental responsibility, conservation and continual environmental improvement.
- Delegate responsibility for environmental matters to the appropriate levels in the company.
- Increase awareness and provide necessary training to employees and customers so environmentally responsible concepts are integrated into normal working practices.
- Demonstrate control of operations and ensure all are performed with due consideration of the environment.
- Perform regular audits to identify potential accidents and resultant environmental impact, with mitigation measures to minimize impact in the event of an incident.
- Use products with negligible environmental impact where appropriate options exist.
- Minimize storage and use of articles and substances where appropriate.
- Reduce consumption of resources, including energy, materials and packaging, where feasible.
- Minimize waste through reuse, recovery or recycling where feasible.
Climate Responsibility and Stakeholder Influence
In line with international climate commitments such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, nations are expected to take measures to lower emissions, reduce global warming and address climate change.
Landmark's operations include vulnerable and harsh arid and semi-arid regions within Africa where adverse climate changes severely affect residents and governments.
It is our duty to ensure good environmental management is practiced in all contracts and projects in which we are involved, and to influence customers and suppliers to demonstrate positive environmental commitment.
Landmark will communicate its Environmental Policy to employees and make it available to customers, shareholders and the general public.
